Company Policies

SCHEDULING

Staff receives their schedule through Shiftplanning. Staff is required to update managers on their availability so the person in charge of scheduling can plan accordingly.

CONFIDENTIALITY 

You signed the Brainstorm Employee Intellectual Property Agreement meaning that if you create any content or curriculum while working with us we retain the ownership.

All projects will be worked on in our Google Database to make sure that it is retained. All of our curriculum and classroom presentations are meant to remain confidential meaning you do not share it with anyone outside the organization other than in performing your normal in-class teaching.

UNIFORM & DRESS CODE

  • All employees will be given at least one Brainstorm shirt. These should be worn at all classes and to any events that are held (Exploratoriums, Demos, Open House, etc).
    • All clothing should be school-appropriate.
    • Long pants are preferred over shorts, however, school-appropriate shorts are acceptable on hot days.
    • Solid Dark leggings are permitted as well
    • Khakis, blue or black pants, and Jeans without tears, fraying, and rips are acceptable. All pants should fit well meaning not baggie and/or worn with a be
    • No Sweats, Jammie pants, or Graphic tee Shirts.
  • Closed-toed shoes must be worn at all times in the office and on school sites.
  • If working only in the office, casual work-appropriate attire may be worn. Employees may wear more relaxed, informal clothing but not what you would wear in off-duty time or lounging at home. This means avoiding revealing, torn or dirty clothing or items with offensive messages or images.
  • Hats and/or other headwear should not be worn in classes. (unless protected under religious rights)
  • A high standard of personal grooming and hygiene is expected, meaning; employees are bathed, their hair neatly kept, have good oral hygiene, and a lack of body odor. Please be mindful of overpowering fragrances, as employees and students can have sensitivities and allergies.
  • If any questions or concerns about the dress code or uniform arise please contact management.

GOOGLE DRIVE

All company documents are stored in our Google Drive. You will be given access to the Instructor Access area which is where you will find Curriculum, Slide Shows, School Schedules, and Classroom Management tools This is also where you will find the EOD spreadsheet.

 

DAILY TASKS

Daily tasks will be given to employees with scheduled office hours. Please consult with your supervisor about any questions on task assignments.

HEALTH CARE

As of January 1, 2023, if you are a full-time employee who has been employed by Brainstorm STEM for 3 Months or more, you qualify for our healthcare plan. The company that Brainstorm has insurance through is Blue Shield of California. If you meet these qualifications please speak with Darren to get enrolled.

VAN POLICY

You must be over 25 years of age and cleared by our insurance to drive the vans.

Please check fuel levels before and after each use. If fuel is low inform a manager. If no manager is on shift send them a text informing them. DO NOT LEAVE VANS WITH LOW-FUEL

TELEPHONE PROCEDURES

When answering phone calls, begin with “Hello Brainstorm, this is [Name] speaking. How can I help you?” Answer the caller’s questions to the best of your ability. Be sure to take down the callers:

  •  Name
  •  Number
  • Question

CELL PHONE POLICY

You should never be on your phone during classes. You are welcome to check it between classes but during class, you should be engaging with the students. Unless it is an emergency of course. We do communicate mostly through text so please do check periodically throughout the day.
