BrainStorm provides educational programs focused on creating the next generation of innovators and thinkers by allowing kids to explore the wonders of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) during their critical formative years from 1st Grade through High School. With BrainStorm’s STEM programs, students are immersed in a stimulating, hands-on learning environment, engaging their minds so they’re ready for tomorrow’s challenge. Our student learning guides and visual instructional aids create an environment where success is assured, allowing students the freedom to explore all of the wonders of STEM with confidence.
BrainStorm’s programs allow students imaginations to come to life as they discover mechanical and structural principles of simple machines, build robots, create code or make their own video game. Students are able to make connections from our unique curriculum to their lives beyond just the classroom and transfer their learning into the real world. Our STEM programs represent the perfect storm for student engagement with applied physics, mathematics, computer programming, digital prototyping and design, integrated problem solving, teamwork, and thought leadership all being explored through hands-on projects.
Our goal is to provide opportunities for students to explore the different possibilities of STEM, learn a 21st Century skill and potentially discover their passion. BrainStorm’s students have gone on to receive scholarships for Engineering at Ivy League universities. And, our younger students in Elementary and Intermediate schools have gone on to win over 30+ awards in the FIRST Robotics Competition, as well as numerous awards in Filmmaking.
BrainStorm’s Founder and CEO, Darren Jones, has 25 years of experience working as an Engineer and Technical Advisor in the technology and motion picture industries. He has worked on over 35 major motion pictures, including: the Star Wars® and Lord of the Rings® Trilogies. Upon founding BrainStorm he has sought out exceptionally talented staff to help introduce students to the amazing fields of STEM.
BrainStorm’s staff is comprised of Credentialed Teachers, Engineers, Programmers, 3D Game Developers, Artists, Aerospace Engineers, Filmmakers, LEGO Master Builders and more. Despite their different backgrounds, they all share a passion for teaching STEM in an engaging and educational way. The majority of our employees are industry professionals or college students that have a strong background in a STEM focused area. Each teacher undergoes extensive training on each course at our BrainStorm STEM Academy located in Irvine. This includes training in our engaging and extensive curriculum, equipment and software, proactive classroom management and technical administration.
Our amazing teachers have been carefully selected and trained to provide the highest-quality experience for our classes and with our company. Each teacher must successfully complete an intensive training program at our STEM Academy in Irvine. Once completing their training and orientation, teachers are required to complete in-class training by assisting experienced teachers in our classes.
Our support and partnership with surrounding Colleges and Universities has allowed us to secure channels for locating qualified teachers for our programs. We also leverage our relationship with the FIRST Robotics organization, an international robotics competition that gives students real-world engineering experience, to find qualified staff with an engineering or technical background.
