Minecraft University: Python Modding Install Guide

Below you will find instruction on how to download and prepare software for the first day of class.

Part 1

FORGE 1.12.2 SETUP

Minecraft Forge is an extension program that allows Java Edition Minecraft to load community-created game modifications, also known as mods.

The video tutorial will help guide you with setting up Java, Forge and the mods for Minecraft 1.12.2

For Mac: Finding the Minecraft Folder

  • Click on the desktop and then press Command+Shift+G all at the same time
  • Type ~/Library and press enter
  • Open the folder Application Support and then Minecraft

Part 2

PYTHON and VS CODE SETUP

Python is a general purpose programming language used in both desktop and web apps.

Visual Studio Code is a free code editor made by Microsoft.

This video tutorial will help guide you with setting up Python and Visual Studio Code for this course.
